Ok, I couldn't get the "reserve=0xffb00000,0x100000" option to work on
my Jaunty installation, but after a bit of testing it appears that the
problem is that I'm running the x86_64 version - the option works fine
on the i386 liveCD. Does anyone know why it doesn't work and/or how it
could be made to?

I made the move to 64-bit precisely with Jaunty, and I'm going to stick
to it with or without card reader, but wouldn't it be wonderful if
everything worked at once with a little kernel parameter?
