Answering to PiedPiper:
Configurations, Interfaces and Endpoints are the basic structures of an USB device. You can't limit or mess with those things, else the device will simply not work. As comparison, it is like limiting the number of legs that a horse (or maybe any animal) can have. You can't do that.

And about this bug being related to USB hubs... All I can say is that
some hubs can help to trigger or "solve" the problem (I guess), but I
think this bug also happens on devices connected directly to the host
controller.
