[Bug 263541] [NEW] iwl3945 cannot link in Ad-Hoc mode to 802.11b adapter

Public bug reported:

iwl3945 has serious problems in ad-hoc mode.

Connecting to 802.11b devices does not work at all, setting parameters
with iwconfig fails in 9 of 10 attempts.

In dmesg errors like this appear:

[323130.480114] wlan0: No active IBSS STAs - trying to scan for other IBSS networks with same SSID (merge)
[323134.440555] wlan0: Selected IBSS BSSID be:f4:6a:2c:ec:f4 based on configured SSID
[323134.441694] wlan0: Configured IBSS beacon template based on scan results

Up-to-date Hardy installation running kernel 2.6.24-19-generic and  iwconfig --version
iwconfig  Wireless-Tools version 29
          Compatible with Wireless Extension v11 to v22.

Kernel    Currently compiled with Wireless Extension v22.

wlan0     Recommend Wireless Extension v21 or later,
          Currently compiled with Wireless Extension v22.
