If you follow the instructions and get the latest Ubuntu installed,
everything works except the SDHCI card reader (currently -- even that
may shortly be fixed). So you will have a full X-Windows GUI, all kinds
of software, etc.

Here are instructions on how to install, using the "Alternate" install CD that you can download from Ubuntu:

I have my Everex laptop set up with only Ubuntu on it, so I am not sure
about setting up a dual boot Windows/Ubuntu system or resizing NTFS
partitions. Good luck with that!
