[Bug 272247] Re: System freezes during boot, unless I hold a key down

"hpet=disable" seems to work well for me on my HP Pavilion dv6810us
running 64bit Ubuntu (dual core AMD64, nvidia graphics). I don't have
any problems with the remote or volume controls. The only side effect
that I've noticed is that I can now successfully suspend the machine,
but resume never comes back. Of course, resume didn't work without
disabling hpet either, it was just a lot harder to suspend without that
option. I suspect that whatever is causing the error on boot is also
affecting resume.

This weekend, I will try to do more testing on different options. But
"hpet=disable" seems to be a reasonable workaround for the time being.
