I just tried loading Ubuntu 8.04 on the same Toshiba laptop that previously encountered the problem in ACPI.? Early in the load process I got the following error message that halted the loading process and locked up the machine, requiring a manual power-off to shut-down.

??? ACPI: no DMI Bios year, acpi-force is required to enable ACPI

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
