[Bug 226304] [NEW] kernel upgrade breaks compiz

Public bug reported:

Today i upgraded the kernel to -17 version, then after rebooting compiz gives only a white screen..
i tried to fiddle around with xorg.conf but no settings can make it work.
dead end, i reverted to -16 kernel in order to be able to use compiz.
