Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image

Hi,

current development version does not recognize all my RAM. In times of
modern computers, larger RAM will become more and more. So the desktop
kernel -generic should have HIGHMEM support. Otherwise people need to
install the -server kernel.

Might be the same as here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/232537

Missing option in kernel:

[...]
[ 0.000000] Warning only 4GB will be used.
[ 0.000000] Use a HIGHMEM64G enabled kernel.
[ 0.000000] 3200MB HIGHMEM available.
[ 0.000000] 896MB LOWMEM available.
[ 0.000000] found SMP MP-table at [c00ff780] 000ff780
[...]

Please change this setting in the kernel config

Kind regards
Christian
