I'm running Hardy on a laptop and ran into this issue after the I
updated.  However its been awhile since I ran vmware so not sure if it
was the update I did or was previous.

Linux kessel 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Jun 4 16:35:01 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux

I'm running VMWare Workstation 6.0.4 build-93057.

The one thing I notice is that my shift key works fine in the VM, but
not in the host.

Running 'setxkbmap' seems to be a work around.
