OK, any updates there??

Still no luck with 2.6.24-18-generic, which was kind of expected :)
I'll try to build a custom kernel today... maybe this is fixed in the fresh upstream version?

Anyway, this bug _needs_ more attention.

BTW, the backlight resets when the ACPI modules are loaded. Also, the older BIOS (09ST, AFAIK) seems to resolve the problem, but I'm not certain.
The BIOS on that particular machine is 14ST (which is even unofficial???)
