[Bug 251918] [NEW] [hardy] Freeze at "Starting up..." prompt with latest kernel only

Just ran an update which pulled in a new kernel.  When attempting to
boot to the new kernel my system freezes at the "Starting up..." prompt.
I had to select the previous version from the GRUB menu to boot.
