When booting the kernel and initrd from the linux-image-2.6.15-51-server
package, a run-time linker error occurs for vgchange as libncurses.so.5
cannot be found within initrd. Thus, booting will fail if the root file
system resides on an LVM volume.

In fact, libncurses.so.5 is missing from the /lib directory within initrd.img-2.6.15-51-server.
I verified that libncurses.so.5 exists within initrd.img-2.6.15-29-server.
