The problem isn't solved for my notebook:
[  256.961178] hub 5-0:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 6 disabled
Perhaps Ubuntu fix the problem only for x86_64.

Linux ubuntu 2.6.24-4-generic #1 SMP Mon Jan 14 17:30:39 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
Notebook: Amilo Pro V3205 with BIOS 1.10
