That's strange, I'm connected to my home WPA network with no problems
using my "method".

Yes to both. I'm currently transferring a lot of data from my bigger
laptop to the Wind and the speed is about 1MB/s.  My bigger laptop has
the 4965AGN Intel card and the access point is an ASUS WL500W.

That said, I've transferred over 10GB already at this speed without any
stability/reliability issues.

The range is also not very good. 4965AGN sees 8 available networks, the
Realtek only 4 (when placed in the same spot).

This is why the best thing I can do to get as much range and speed is to
get the Intel card for the Wind as well. I ordered it for 25 EUR (38
USD), new.
