Public bug reported:

I'm unable to boot using one of the 2.6.24-[14/15/16]-386 kernels+images.
Notably, the -generic series works for me!

This is the symptom: After 2-3 minutes of waiting, i'm dropped into a
busybox shell inside my initramfs because the root filesystem could not
be found.

A bit of debugging there:
* no device nodes for my sata disk are present
* I have to "modprobe ahci" for my disk to show up in dmesg
* After that, I can mknod my /dev/sda and read from it.

** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
