I'm quite new to this stuff as well, so I'm probably just as lost as you
;)

As far as i remember, the live CDs also suffer from my 6208 one. If you
can, try downloading and burning the hardy beta from
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/hardy/beta - and test if you can boot with
your USB devices attached. If you can't, this is probably the same bug.
If you can, however, it is probably another.

You do not have any USB devices that you cannot boot with attached at
the moment?
