I recently upgraded my system from Gutsy to Hardy using "do-release-
upgrade -d".

I still have the same problem if zc0301 module is loaded. After it is
unloaded, the webcam can work properly. The video recording feature of
Cheese works now in Hardy, although a little sluggish during starting
and stoping the recording.

Maybe a clean installation should be used for testing.
