I triple-checked on hardy, and if you remove network manager and
configure only one network interface (the wireless one) with a hidden
ESSID entered in gnome's network-admin (in dhcp mode, at least), the
network interface is properly brought up even after a restart of the
computer, so I would think the initial issue has been fixed in 8.04.
