New Ubuntu newbie wring,
My problem with sound with fresh 6.10 install (untouched sound settings) -> Detects USB device with correct drivers present but no sound output)
0: Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 (Alsa Mixer)

Reconnecting USB cable or going into hibernate mode adds a generic driver for sound (USB utility problems?)
1: USB Mixer (OSS Mixer)

Sound is now apparent but not tuned with USB sound device, once I change
it back to 0 works perfectly but volume sliders are not 100% accurate
what I mean by that is they jump up and down, sometime never move, never
mutes/unmutes (very annoying) Restarting the computer seems to reset
sound settings

Hope someone releases a simple guide to understand configuring sound
(backing up the config file for later use) or using another utility for
sound or updating Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 driver
