Note that this issue looks similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/130972
however there the 'solution' was to use gstreamer-properties and select 'No Xv'.
Doing that and pressing button "Test" shows indeed a better result  (of the test video)
in comparison with pressing "Test" for the default one, however it does not appear to affect
the gmplayer, totem or vlc.

In vlc itself there is also an option to pass the Video output to a non-default, choosing
"X11 video output" which indeed fixes it for vlc programs (even playing multiple movies).
However gmplayer and movieplayer will still have the same issue, but now gmplayer only conflicts
with another gmplayer and totem only conflicts with a totem player.
This means I can in fact play three different movies or more at once using one for totem,
one for gmplayer and the reaming for vlc. But I can not have two gmplayers or two totems running.

Anyway, it should work without these workarounds..
