This seems to be as good of a place to comment as I have found.

I am using Edgy 6.10, on a HP m7750n (Athlon X2 5200+, 2gb ram, 400mb
drive).  I have an external USB2 500gb drive attached (Western Digital),
and a HP PSC2210.

When I attempt to suspend-to-ram, all goes well (that is the usb drive powers down, the pc goes into suspend.)
However, when I attempt to resume, the reload fails on detecting usb stuff.  I have tried this with and withought the usb drive. 

The system is up to date as of 3/30/07.
