[Bug 48361] Fails to boot from 6.06 AMD64 CD

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Running an AMD64, ATI graphics card 8250, I started up from the 6.06 CD,
went all the way to "starting sys log", then screen blanked and PC died,
had to do an electrics OFF restart.

CD checksums are OK,

Running from Safe graphics mode is ok.

startup no longer asks about localisation, or keyboard?

Am now exploring the cool new Ubuntu!
