I am also finding that the ASUS WL-167G (v2) USB wireless adaptor does
not seem to be recognised in Ubuntu Edgy.

dmesg does say this when I plug it in:

Jan 18 14:05:15 localhost kernel: [17180320.452000] usb 5-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6
Jan 18 14:05:16 localhost kernel: [17180320.736000] usb 5-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

However, it doesn't show up in the Network control panel, nor is it
listed by ifconfig or iwconfig in the terminal. It does work in MS
Windows.

There are Linux drivers on the CD, which I have not yet tried. The CD
has a linux/README.dat file that contains the following:

"
* To check which driver you should use

        1. insert ASUS 167g into USB port.

        2. cat /proc/usb/devices.

        3. check vendor id and product id of ASUS WLAN device.

        4. follow the README file in related directory to compile and
install driver.

        vendor id productid driver directory

But /proc/usb/devices does not seem to exist.

Looking at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessTroubleShootingGuide#check
lshw shows this
"
