Public bug reported:
Fresh install of Ubuntu 6.10, fully updated .
My laptop:
ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
VX1
1.0
After booting sound works fine (and is at full volume). When adjusting
the volume with the alsa mixer sound fails. Absolutely no more sound.
Volume control in Totem does work. When I do:
sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils reset
or
sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart
Sound works again but only on one side (right side), left side is still
completely silent. After rebooting it works again.
How to reproduce: boot, play a video or audio file, adjust the volume
using the alsamixer
