Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-generic

I have a Thinkpad T41, running the latest Feisty with all updates, I can
run the ondemand governor just fine, but have to keep choosing it in the
little applet in my taskbar. I am not sure if it has to do with gnome-
power-management or not.

I should be able to
# modprobe cpufreq_ondemand
# modprobe speedstep_centrino
# install the package sysfsutils (which provides /etc/sysfs.conf)
# edit /etc/sysfs.conf to add the line

devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor=ondemand

and then add the modules to /etc/modules
and it should stay as ondemand, whenever i unplug or something like that it goes back to 'conservative'. Going to guess it is because speedstep_centrino is not compiled as a module in the generic kernel... and possibly because g-p-m is screwing with it.

** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
