Lots of v's lspci gives this for the sound:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
Subsystem: Gateway 2000 Unknown device 0366
Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B-
Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 21
Region 0: Memory at d8240000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: <access denied>
It is definitely an upstream problem as well. A Gentoo user contacted me asking if I had the same problems as him. As of the most updated Feisty, this still doesn't work properly. I don't like having to reboot to get sound working (sometimes 2 or 3 times).
** Also affects: linux (upstream)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Unconfirmed
