[Bug 177920] Music Player Lockups (Banshee, Rythmbox, VLC)

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15

Just upgraded to the latest kernel (Linux version 2.6.22-14-generic
(buildd at terranova) (gcc version 4.1.3 20070929 (prerelease) (Ubuntu
4.1.2-16ubuntu2)) #1 SMP Tue Dec 18 08:02:57 UTC 2007). Since the kernel
upgrade Rhythmbox, Banshee and VLC all lockup when attempting to play
music files. If I run a video (avi format), I get no sound and have to
force quit VLC (will not respond to 'Stop Play' button). Also, keyboard
control of sound volume sporadically (vast majority of time) does not
work. I am running on an Acer laptop, Aspire 9500 series. I will gladly
post any additional information needed as requested.
