- inserting wavelan silver pcmcia card causes hard lockup
+ Inserting Orinoco pcmcia card causes hard lockup
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-26-powerpc
When the pcmcia module is already installed on my wallstreet powerbook,
inserting my wavelan silver pcmcia card causes an instant hard lockup.
When the card is already inserted and I an attempt is made to load the
pcmcia driver, a very long wait follows, after which lsmod shows the
module as being loaded, but the card does not show up when I bring up
the network config window.
Here are the boot kernel messages up to the point at which it thinks it
has finished loading the pcmcia driver:

+ Description of problem from http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/linux-pcmcia/2006-April/003488.html :
+ I see from the dmesg output from my original post that memory ranges
+ 0xfdd7f000 and 0xfddff000 are used by the Gatwick and Heathrow mac io
+ controllers. That explains the conflict with PCMCIA over 0xfd000000.
+
+ Using kernel 2.6.17, and reserve=0xfd000000,0xffffff as a kernel argument is a temporary fix.
