[Bug 71553] Toshiba laptop hangs in ACPI during boot

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

While booting Dapper from CD on Toshiba laptop, after the kernel boots,
then immediately get msg "[4294667.196000] ACPI: Unable to locate RSDP"
and system hangs.  Repeated tries yield same result.  Can't get beyond
that point.  Any suggestions?  What is RSDP?
