Hmm..turns out this isn't an option. I downloaded the ISO for 7.04 (x64
version) and attempted to install. I ended up with a black/blank screen.
I then attempted the text only installer, which I could see, but after
the install, I again ended up with a black screen. I then tried removing
the "SPLASH" from th startup command after finding similar posts on the
site. That got me past the black screen error, only to land me at
anotehr error (A TTY JOB error). I tried using Cntrl-Alt-F1->F8 but they
only gave me a non flashing cursor (F1 took me back to the error). I
finally gave up in frustration and tried Mandriva. It installed without
issue, but it also doesn't support this wireless card out of the box.
I've attempted to follow the guides. I installed the source kernel
(ended up picking way too many things that aren't a kernel source
apparently) until the ls command shows the make command as suggsted by
the Intel wifi guide. Those guides always ended up with some error, that
apparently wasn't supposed to happen.
I was able to upgrade the kernel in Mandriva to 18.104.22.168 after much
digging on Google. They don't seem to have the newest kernels available
like Ubuntu does. I'd still like to give Ubuntu a go if I can get it
booted up. Should I just try the 32 bit version? I'd prefer the 64 for
my Core 2 duo but I could live with 32.
