I'm also having the problem with Edgy
Hardware: ASUS M2N4-SLI  //  AMD64 X2 4600  //  2GB DDR2 667.

If I interupt the boot process with [Esc], the other options (safe mode??) do appear to let me into my Edgy installation.
I'm relatively new to Linux (this is my second Ubuntu install) - can someone clarify what the resolution process would normally be for this type of issue?
