[Bug 52212] Can not shutdown, logoff, restart, or hibernate on Intel 915GVW+Intel P4 2.66(64 bit)

Intel 915GVW mother board with Intel P4 2.66 (64-Bit) 
the Ubuntu 6.06 AMD64 version 
is unable to shutdown, restart,standby,logoff, or hibernate.

There is shown an error saying
"Kernel panic"

The same problem was faced in ubuntu Breezy 5.10 AMD64 edition
