[Bug 50083] External Floppy (USB) slow to mount

Using Mitsumi D353FUE USB Floppy Drive in latest updated version of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS
When plugged in machine recognizes drive immediately. However when disk is inserted
it take up to 8 minutes for machine (pmount) to mount. Once mounted if disk is ejected using eject button on drive and then disk re-inserted it remounts almost immediatly.
Computer is an Acer Aspire 5672WLMi laptop.
