You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I upgraded the BIOS for my motherboard trough my Windows XP partition. Things got upgraded I could still boot into Windows. But booting into Ubuntu was impossible.

MSI mainboard socket am2
K9N Ultra Series, MS-7250

Where I posted my problem and how things got fixed temporarily. The problem remains though even if I can boot into Ubuntu and use it like nothing has happened. It's just annoying to have BIOS errors reminding you that something is not right.

This is not the entire ERROR message but it seemed to be the most relevant since the other messages said things got started OK. And there where more numbers very close to the series at the bottom of the code. I just typed the most common series of numbers.
[code]
Security Framework v1.0.0 initialized
SELinux: Disabled at boot.
ACPI: Looking for DSDT...not found!

...MP-BIOS bug:8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
...trying to set up timer (IRQ0) through the 8259A...failed
...trying to set up timer as Virtual Wire IRQ...failed
...trying to set up timer as ExtINT IRQ...failed :(.

Kernel panic-not syncing: IO-APIC+timer doesn't work!

Boot with apic=debug and send a report. Then try booting with the 'noapic' option

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
