Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-generic

Have an ASUS Z84JP laptop with built in eSATA port. Don't know which
chipset. Connected to it is a Samsung 500GB SATA-II drive in an Icy
Dock enclosure.

Works fine with kernel 2.6.20-11-generic but is not recognized at all
with 2.6.20-12. Not even a /dev/sdb exists.

This can be confirmed either with dmesg (look for sdb) or fdisk
/dev/sdb. Both work in -11, neither work in -12. Rebooting from -12
back to -11 without touching connections or anything else got the drive
back.

** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
