Acer Ferrari 4005 AMD Turion 64 with ATI mobility radeon X700 
Knot 3 & all updates. 
Last tried 7:30 p.m. EST. 

Error message 
12.105122
MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
kernel direct mapping
tables up to fee 01000 @ 8000-8000

Now, having said that, I did modify the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to
include the line:

Option    "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,AUTO"

I always do this. Laptop monitor doesn't work otherwise.
