[Bug 60317] neither sudo gedit, nor gksudo gedit work

When i type : sudo gedit
, nothing happens and i have to press control c to get back to prompt.
when i type gksudo gedit, it says this: GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
The application 'gedit' lost its connection to the display :0.0;
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the application.

and it never finishes loading. basically im stuck using vim .
