This is the output of hwclock on my Inspiron 6400 running BIOS rev A08
with factory default settings and doing OK with Dapper:

esteban at darko:~$ sudo hwclock -D
hwclock from util-linux-2.12r
Using /dev/rtc interface to clock.
Last drift adjustment done at 1161744804 seconds after 1969
Last calibration done at 1161744804 seconds after 1969
Hardware clock is on local time
Assuming hardware clock is kept in local time.
Waiting for clock tick...
...got clock tick
Time read from Hardware Clock: 2006/10/28 17:19:04
Hw clock time : 2006/10/28 17:19:04 = 1162066744 seconds since 1969
Sat 28 Oct 2006 05:19:04 PM ART -0.294788 seconds

I'll upgrade to Edgy Eft and see what happens.
