Public bug reported:
When I use linux kernel 686 to boot, Both my keyboard and trackball freeze at the login screen. The curser is flashing but I can't move the curser with my trackball or type or tab. I can login using 386 fine. I don't know a lot about troubleshooting but wil assist any way I can.
This computer is a P4 3ghz on a ECS 865PE-A7 LGA775 Pentium4 800 mhz FSB with 2 MM-DDR400 512meg chips on seperat chanels. My hard drive is a 160Gig WesternDigital SATA 7200RPM drive with an 8 meg cashe. For video I have a nVIDIA GeFORCE FX5500 256MB AGP 8X graphics card TV-OUT going to a acer AL1715 Flat pannel. For sound I have a SoundBlaster Audigy2 value driving a logitech X620 6.1 suround sound speaker system.
It is Linux only machine. I was able to use the 686 kernel with breezy.
I tried to update from breezy to dapper but had several problems. I made a fresh install of Breezy, the I updated my update manager, then updated to Dapper. Not being ablet to run the 686 Kernel has been the only major problem I have encountered.
Any help will be appreciated.
** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
