I  compiled vanilla kernel  (2.6.18.1) but no improvement. I'm running
2.6.15-23-amd64-generic #1 SMP PREEMPT  no, which solved some other
issues (Bug #64325: Konqueror is slow when opening a directory), but
random keyboard  repeats  are still here. It's not possible to type a
sentence without any randomly repeated characters.

Is this somehow amd64/em64t related?
