[Bug 33197] No web access with ethernet connection

Public bug reported:

I just installed a dapper flight4 on my laptop which worked fine with breezy. 
- During the install, it couldn't resolve the security update repository but it could download the language packages.
- Now, i can ping www.google.com, but nothing else related to networking works. I can't browse the web with firefox (connection timed out), i can't use Xchat nor gaim.
- the computed has a wifi and ethernet card, and is connected to a wired network.
