There appears to be a new problem with this notebook under Edgy.

My previous experience had been that the text based Dapper installer
still had problems but the graphical installer worked fine. With the
release of the Edgy betas neither seem to work.

When I attempted to install Edgy beta1:

During the graphical install process it gets stuck at 94%, at the step:
installing grub boot loader
running "update-grub"...

If I try doing the text based install I get:
installing the base system
debootstrap warning
warning: failure trying to run: chroot /target mount -t proc proc /proc

The first time I was trying to install over top of an existing Dapper, when that didn't work I zeroed the entire drive (including mbr) and left everything on the defaults, allowing the Edgy installer to wipe the drive and create the swap and ext3 partitions on its own, it still gets stuck on "update-grub".
