Of for Grub error, I confirmed the bug on the report you filed.
Concerning "Cannot allocate resource region" errors, someone reported a bug here : https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.17/+bug/63607
But one more time the kernel itself may not be the source of the problem.

I hope with all this will see the end of the problems :-)
