I hope this is the last time we repeat the same thing :)

Jmicron IDE and Jmicron SATA are working in latest Edgy prereleases
(beta nad daily builds). If it doesn't work, the probably you have to
fix your BIOS settings.

ICH8 still doesn't work. This means that you will be able to start
installation, but it will not discover any disks connected to ICH8. Even
booting installation could last longer cause of ICH8.

Problem is that, all of you who have P5B, your disks are connected to
ICH8, and CDROM to Jmicron. You are hit by two different bugs, which
only feel like one.
