We want to extend the list of owners of the SZ series laptop interested
in having the Ricoh webcam workingv under Linux. We are about to send a
request letter to Ricoh. Please send an email to avilella(gmail) and you
will receive a draft of the letter to confirm signatories.
** Summary changed:
- Sonypi motioneye camera not recognized
+ Ricoh RY5U870-VW001 camera specs
** Description changed:
- This may be a long shot, but the maybe something can be done to get the
- integrated video camera to work.
+ Ricoh is using the "Ricoh Original Driver", which means that we should
+ contact Ricoh about the Linux support.
- sonypi doesn't recognize the motioneye camera by default:
+ Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC2
- [4294702.453000] sonypi: Sony Programmable I/O Controller Driverv1.26.
- [4294702.454000] sonypi: detected type2 model, verbose = 0, fnkeyinit = off, camera = off, compat = off, mask = 0xffffffff, useinput = on, acpi = on
- [4294702.454000] sonypi: enabled at irq=11, port1=0x1080, port2=0x1084
- [4294702.454000] sonypi: device allocated minor is 61
+ The manufacturer is Ricoh: Vendor ID: 0x05ca Product ID: 0x1830
- Although apparently it should be doable, via motioneye (via sonypi):

+ The microphone by the camera works (small hole at the left of the
+ lenses), so you can use it normally, but the camera is going to be more
+ difficult to get to work.
- This is a USB Micro Vision camera. Attached are the details from the inf
- Windows driver file.
+ The device is one of these products:
