[Bug 67487] Re: [edgy][regression][rv280] black screen and full freeze when X starts

1) Boot to 6.10 LiveCD.
2) Chose Install Ubuntu
3) Splash screen with Knight Rider style status bar
4) After a while, the status bar begins from the left and reaches the end on the right.
5) Screen blanks, then a garbled X did not start message.
6) Alt-F1-etc works, machine is pingable.

Below are the specs on the video card, as well as an attached dmesg.out
and Xorg.0.log

Windows XP reports the following about the video card:
