[Bug 41250] BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g doesn't work

Public bug reported:

after extracting the fw using fwcutter from the windows drivers of
Broadcom's BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g the WLAN LED starts
working for me. But trying to connect to my local wlan network failed. I
tried several options like using only wep or complete without wep/wpa.
For one day the adapter had worked, listing networks it has found. after
a reboot things stop working (without chaning settings or something).
