[Bug 39797] Failure to Burn with Dell SN324S CD Burner

In Dapper (and previous releases) I've been unable to burn any media on
my SN324S Combo CD R/RW burner (4x). Right clicking on an ISO and
hitting "Write" brings up the dialogue as it should, but when I actually
attempt the write, it says to insert blank media, even though there
already is some there.

CDs that are already burnt seem to work fine, IE: I can usually mount
and read them just fine, but I've never been able to burn with this
laptop.

An oddity with my setup is that with every distro I've tried, hdc is my
IDE hard drive and hda is my CD-Rom. This is apparently a quirk with
this machine (Dell Inspiron 5150).

Looking at http://www.dfernando.com/dell_setup.html#DVDCD_Burner I see
that someone mentioned running the drive under SCSI emulation to get it
to burn. I'm not sure how to do this, but perhaps this is a solution.

Again, I've tried this under mutiple burner programs, all of which
failed. Here is some dmesg output that may or may not be helpful. This
is resulting from inserting/removing the CD and manually attempting to
mount it a few times.
