[Bug 47376] Device-mapper error adding target to table!

Public bug reported:

Compiled new 2.6.16.18 kernel from kernal.org. I get flooded with the
above error message.  Whick takes up about 20 lines.

device-mapper: dm-linear: Device lookup failed.

Kernel does boot, after doing research it could be part of the evms
package but unsure.

This was following the ubuntu way of building kernel's which is like
that of debian. And in the kernel docs, I assume a undocumented patch
was added in the ubuntu kernels.

Thus the need for a bug report, as we can not wait for ubuntu to
backport everything to 2.6.15.
