I had the same problem here on a Dell Inspiron 8100 (using a -686 kernel
-- upgraded today via agt-get update/upgrade). By now I can boot the
system but cannot remove the wvdial package or install the -386 kernel
without running dpkg --configure -a, resulting in a lock. So what to do
to motivate dpkg to omit the wvdial configuration?
